Gah, once again a long waiting period for this page. I'll try to work faster in the future. I'm still trying to find an optimal way of allocating time between working, getting a life, drawing the webcomic, maintaining and updating the website, and maintaining and updating the forum. So far I've been de-allocating time for sleep.
I first drew these bad guys when I was 12 or 13 years old. I guess more than anything, they are inspired by my memories of the old Return of the King cartoon. Its really a great work, and in many ways superior in vision compared to the current Peter Jackson films (which I also greatly enjoy). The symbol they have on their foreheads is from an old Atari ST computer game, "Dungeon Master". I have to admit, I always feel a bit guilty drawing bad guys like these 'cuz I tend to identify with every character I draw. So to these guys while I draw them I'm thinking okay, so I made you butt-ugly AND evil... sorry dudes...
The action lines effect is courtesy of a technique Hanna showed me recently. You can find out how to do it as well and much more on her website, Protocol Seven (http://www.protocolseven.com). Thanks a bunch ninjapiglet! :)
This page was fun to draw - I haven't done too many crowd scenes lately, so its kinda nice to get back to that. The key to drawing them, and practically drawing everything I feel, is linear relationships. One of these days I might get off my ass and write a tutorial on exactly what that means.
At any rate, hope you like the page - I'll try to put out the next one sooner rather than later.
